Acne is a very common skin problem and most of us are affected by it at some time in our lives. The outermost skin layer, the epidermis, is constantly renewing itself by shedding dead skin cells and replacing them with new. Hair follicles run through this area and attached to each hair follicle is a sebaceous (oil) gland which nourishes the hair and skin. The sebaceous glands can become overactive causing the hair follicles to become plugged with oil and dead skin cells and as a result we get acne forming. These plugs can also become infected by bacteria which occur naturally on the skin.
There are different grades of acne - whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules, cysts and nodules and there are many factors that contribute towards their development.
We aim to improve the overall health of your skin and reduce the risk of scarring by specifically targeting and preventing active acne. To do this we use a combination of very gentle peels, LED light therapy, vitamin infusions, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments, topical skin care products and dietary supplements. If you already have some scarring then we can improve that with Collagen Induction Therapy.
A consultation is essential to assess your skin condition so we can customise the clinic and home treatments. We will work out a programme of treatments for you - we offer an economical easy payment plan which means, if you want to, you can spread the cost of the payments over a period of time.
Acne can be difficult to control. If you don't want to use antibiotics and strong prescribed medications then we may be able to offer an alternative strategy.

The number of treatments varies, usually a course of 3 to 6 is recommended. Depending on the sensitivity of the skin the treatments can be done every week, fortnightly or monthly. Everything depends on the severity and type of acne - it can take weeks to months to get good results.
Yes, we can treat acne scarring on the face and the body using Collagen Induction Therapy (skin needling). This can help to improve the appearance of both new (pink) and older (white) scarring by stimulating the formation of new collagen and elastin. It also breaks up the damaged collagen in the scar tissue to help reverse the damage.
It's important to note that skin needling can't be done on active acne as it could spread infection throughout the skin causing further problems.
